Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”

A soul-stirring call from Philippians 2:5 to walk in Christ’s humility, love, and glory.

I. The Greatest Invitation

What would it mean for your thoughts today to mirror the very thoughts of Christ?
Pause for a moment. Imagine His compassion for the overlooked. Imagine His patience toward the slow to believe. Imagine His willingness to embrace the cross for people who didn’t even thank Him.

This is not a lofty dream for saints of the past. This is the call of God to you, right now — to think as Jesus thinks, to see as Jesus sees, and to love as Jesus loves.

It’s an invitation that changes everything.
“But we have the mind of Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 2:16

II. What Is the “Mind of Christ”?

The mind of Christ is not about storing more religious information. It is an attitude, a posture of the heart. It is humility that seeks the Father’s will above all, selflessness that serves even when unnoticed, and love that pours itself out for the unworthy.

When you begin to think like Christ, you stop asking, “How does this benefit me?” and start asking, “How can I glorify God and bless others?”

The world trains us to put ourselves first. The Spirit retrains us to put Christ first.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

III. The Path Jesus Chose

“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!” — Philippians 2:6–8

From heaven’s throne to a manger’s straw. From the praise of angels to the rejection of men. From eternal glory to the shame of the cross.

Stop here for a moment and picture Him:

  • The Creator washing the dust from the feet of His creatures.
  • The Holy One letting Himself be mocked by sinners.
  • The Son of God carrying a cross meant for criminals.

Would you serve someone you knew would betray you before nightfall? Jesus did.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” — Mark 10:45

IV. The Reward of the Mind of Christ

The humility of Christ was not the end of His story.
“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name…” — Philippians 2:9

This is the rhythm of the kingdom: the way up is always down. The towel precedes the throne. The cross comes before the crown.

God’s hands lift most gently those who kneel most deeply.
“Humble yourselves… that He may exalt you in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:6

V. How to Let This Mind Be in You

Humility doesn’t happen by accident; it is chosen, moment by moment. Here are ways to start:

  1. Begin each day surrendered — Pray: “Lord, make my thoughts Yours today.”
  2. Take the lowest place — Volunteer for the unnoticed role at work, home, or church.
  3. Release the right to be right — Value reconciliation over winning arguments.
  4. Honor others first — Publicly praise someone before speaking of yourself.
  5. Serve the undeserving — Do good for someone who cannot repay you.
  6. Pray for a rival — Ask God to bless someone you secretly compare yourself to.
  7. Confess quickly — When wrong, admit it without excuses.

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2

VI. Barriers to the Mind of Christ

Pride whispers, “Protect your image.”
Fear warns, “If you lower yourself, they’ll take advantage of you.”
Selfishness argues, “You’ve done enough; let someone else serve.”

These voices keep us clinging to our place at the table, while Jesus quietly kneels with a towel.

Only by fixing our eyes on Him do these voices fade.
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus…” — Hebrews 12:2

What Does God Expect of You Today?

Before the day ends, choose one quiet way to take the lower place — and do it for Jesus alone. Let your unseen service be your worship.

Closing Reflection

Picture Jesus on His knees, water dripping from His hands, the scent of the basin in the air. He looks up with love and says, “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” (John 13:15).

You can resist and keep your pride, or you can kneel and find His joy. This is the mind of Christ — and it can be yours today.

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, I lay down my need to be noticed.
I release my right to be first.
Take my heart and teach it to kneel, even when no one sees.
Your way is now my way.
Amen.

Closing Whisper

You do not walk this path alone.
The One who stooped to wash feet
now walks beside you,
teaching you the joy of the lower place.
The crown is not lost — it is only waiting.
Humble yourself, beloved…
and you will find Me there.
